Pass The Aux! – August 2022

Pass the Aux, a series dedicated to amplifying new and upcoming musicians. We will get you up-to-date in discovering new music monthly to the point where your friends will ask you to “pass the aux!” The first Thursday of every month consists of some of the members of dayfour choosing musicians to highlight. We will give you our thoughts, feelings and theories on those musicians (strictly from a consumer standpoint).

*Have you got new music you want people to hear? Or perhaps you know someone that you think makes great music and just hasn’t had their big break? Make sure to follow us on IG and email links/information on new music to: hellodayfour@gmail.com. We’ll be reviewing all submissions and deciding to focus on someone new each month.

blkcory’s pick: No Tourists

I heard about these guys after I missed another live show man (eventually I will reverse this trend). After exploring their music a bit more, I am here to report that I wish I made it to see No Tourists perform. Once you hear these tracks you’ll see what I mean yo.

Dumbo

This track really shows how crazy the crossover for sounds in music can be. The song feels London inspired but the group is from Toronto. If you’ve ever been to both cities you can see how something like this could come out of either city and still sound authentic. Got their own Toronto version of Smoke Boys vibes to it. It’s a dope record for real.

Satisfaction

Yeah, this track is a bop man. In every setting I imagine this song playing in, there are at least two yardies present. It’s got the energy it needs to. I feel like this is a song it would be dope to have this song play and watch how the crowd reacts.

Back Up

This group makes some good music man. This track just makes you wanna move yo. No way you hear this beat and just sit there on your couch motionless when this comes on.

Like the music? Be sure to follow them on Instagram @aintnotourists and stay up to date on any of this new stuff. Hope you enjoyed the read.
