Pass The Aux! – December 2022

Pass the Aux, a series dedicated to amplifying new and upcoming musicians. We will get you up-to-date in discovering new music monthly to the point where your friends will ask you to “pass the aux!” The first Thursday of every month consists of some of the members of dayfour choosing musicians to highlight. We will give you our thoughts, our feelings and our theories on those musicians (strictly from a consumer standpoint).

*Have you got new music you want people to hear? Or perhaps you know someone that you think makes great music and just hasn’t had their big break? Make sure to follow us on IG and email links/information on new music to: hellodayfour@gmail.com. We’ll be reviewing all submissions and deciding to focus on someone new each month.

blkcory’s pick: SPIRITSAVER

This has gotta be the first time in a while that Twitter blessed me with a rare musical gem from outta nowhere. Usually, I find some sort of deep-cut Detroit rap song on Twitter (which is also bless) but to find a Canadian rock rap/r&b type single outta nowhere is pretty rare. I don’t even know if that’s the genre they would describe their music as but it’s the best way I can explain it. It’s in that Saint Jhn sort of lane in a way if that makes any sense. Anyways they only have two songs out but they’re both fire, so I’m just here to talk about this group man.

I’m High Have You Met Me

This track slaps yo! This is not a track that you have to be high to enjoy at all. The song just makes you feel good man. If this doesn’t have you doing some sort of dance in your bathroom when you hop out of the shower, it’ll at least have you bopping your head for real. The music video is also fire and genuinely made me appreciate the song more than I already did.

KILLING US SLOWLY

This was the song I heard when I was first introduced to SPIRITSAVER. I guess that constant urge to find new music had me look them up but when I listened to this song I knew these guys had a gem. This is one of those songs you really feel in your spirit (no pun intended) when you hear it. If you’ve ever broken up with anybody, you’ll know the vibes yo.

Like the music? Be sure to follow them on socials @spiritsaver and stay up to date on any of their new stuff. Hope you enjoyed the read!
