Pass the Aux- January 2023

Pass the Aux, a series dedicated to amplifying new and upcoming musicians. We will get you up-to-date in discovering new music monthly to the point where your friends will ask you to “pass the aux!” The first Thursday of every month consists of some of the members of dayfour choosing musicians to highlight. We will give you our thoughts, our feelings and our theories on those musicians (strictly from a consumer standpoint).

*Have you got new music you want people to hear? Or, perhaps you know someone that you think makes great music and hasn’t had their big break? Make sure to follow us on IG and email links/information on new music to: hellodayfour@gmail.com. We’ll be reviewing all submissions and deciding to focus on someone new each month.

blkcory’s pick: Mighloe

It’s 2023 and I wanted to start off the year strong like last year and share some new fire I came across over the holidays. I was bumpin’ some R&B one day, fell asleep and when I woke up, I heard this beautiful voice on a song, I’d never heard before. That song ended up being a song from Toronto-based artist Mighloe. I don’t know much about her but I’m still here to share her music.

Little Lies

Few things top listening to COLORS performances on a Sunday afternoon so feel free to add this to your rotation. Mighloe really singing this shit man. This is some “close your eyes and feel the music” type of vibes.

Darkness

“I wandered into the darkness last night
I think I may have fallen in love”

This is a sad but beautiful song yo. If you’re into slightly raspy vocals over melodic guitar cords then this is for you. Bump this track on a rainy day and tell me it doesn’t hit!

Don’t Call Me

This is one of those songs you gotta play when you have to cut off toxic people dem from your life. It’s slightly more upbeat than the other two songs but it still has that air of melancholy that seems to be a theme in her music. I really don’t have complaints about this one either.

Like the music? Be sure to follow her on socials @mighloe and stay up to date on any of her new stuff. Hope you enjoyed the read!
